I’m a Minneapolis-based photographer specializing in capturing the soul of the person and the majesty of the place - and often the soul of the person in the majesty of the place. In 20+ years of photography I have taken close to 2 million photographs - and made plenty of good ones - iconic ones. While I love capturing the historical ordinary - the images that document the people and places we come across in our lives - I yearn to make that iconic image. The iconic image makes us pause. It takes us within the person and the place. You do not just see the iconic image - you feel it - and while it takes us within the person and the place, it also brings the person and the place within you. The iconic image is transcendent - it goes beyond the ordinary to something extraordinary. Something meaningful. Something really quite exquisite. The iconic image goes on your wall, and it stays there.
While this About page is not so much “about” me, it is about how I feel about the people and experiences in my life that have made photography meaningful to me - for each person and experience are profound and have impact on how I see my world.
